en — Mushrooms, auroras or bacteria – in the sound art exhibition cckpt (aka cockpit), the inaudible becomes audible. In installations and performances with specially developed instruments for the sonification of data, usually developed over years of collaboration with scientists, electromagnetic radiation is transformed into „bioelectrical sounds and music“. Data from weather satellites, data from outer space, imploding stars, borealis and even bioelectric impulses from trees or the human body are all sources for compositions or real-time conversions into sound. The installations and performances specially commissioned for cckpt are sometimes conceptual, sometimes poetic, but always at the interface between art and science. The international artists are invited to see cckpt as a laboratory. They are constantly researching on and with new scientific developments. cckpt provides the platform for this. With a multitude of electronic and computer-controlled instruments, like in a cockpit.
